ЖЕМЧУГОВА (наст . фам. Ковалева) Прасковья Ивановна (1768-1803), российская актриса, певица (сопрано). До 1798 крепостная. С 1779 выступала в театре Шереметевых. С 1801 жена графа Н. П. Шереметьева.

ХАЛХИН-ГОЛ , река в Монголии и Китае. 233 км, площадь бассейна 17 тыс. км2. Начинается в Б. Хингане, впадает двумя рукавами в оз. Буир-Нур и р. Орчун-Гол. Средний расход воды 25 м3/с. В мае, июле и августе 1939 в районе Халхин-Гола японские войска вторгались на территорию Монголии, имевшей союзный договор с СССР, но были разгромлены советско-монгольскими войсками. Особенно крупные бои происходили в августе между 6-й японской армией и советской 1-й армейской группой (командующий - комкор Г. К. Жуков).

ЭРИДАН , в греческой мифологии река в стране гипербореев, на севере или западе Европы. В Эридан упал сраженный молнией Зевса Фаэтон, слезы оплакивавших его сестер - Гелиад превратились в водах реки в янтарь. Эридан часто отождествлялся с реками крайнего запада (Пор, Рона и др.).
